The Family Affairs Council led the Saudi delegation participating in the High-Level Meeting to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, held on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council and Head of the Saudi Delegation, delivered the Kingdom’s statement, underscoring the importance of international partnerships and the exchange of expertise in empowering women and girls. She emphasized that women’s empowerment should be pursued within the framework of supporting the family, recognized as the fundamental unit of society.

Dr. Al-Khalil also highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements under Saudi Vision 2030 in advancing women’s empowerment, noting that women’s labor force participation has exceeded 36%, while women now hold approximately 42% of leadership positions. She further pointed to the ongoing legislative developments aimed at safeguarding women’s rights.

The Kingdom’s delegation, headed by Her Excellency the Secretary-General of the Council, also participated in the high-level side event organized by the Republic of Turkey and sponsored by a number of countries, including Saudi Arabia. The event was titled “Better Together: Global Solidarity Rooted in the Family.” The event aimed to focus on the family and its importance in the stability and cohesion of society and achieving sustainable development.

This participation embodies the Kingdom’s deep commitment to enhancing international cooperation to formulate family-supportive policies and build cohesive societies capable of facing various current and future challenges.

The Council’s chairmanship of the Kingdom’s delegation participating in these meetings stems from its expertise in women’s issues and its role in representing the Kingdom in international forums related to family affairs.
