The Saudi Delegation Participates in International meeting on Child Protection in the Digital Environment

The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Family Affairs Council and the National Cybersecurity Authority, participated in the roundtable meeting on “Ensuring Comprehensive and Effective Protection and Empowerment Children in Digital Environments” The meeting held on 21–22 April 2026 in Ankara, Republic of Turkey, upon the invitation of H.E. Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Turkey, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Office of the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children.

The Kingdom’s participation came as part of its efforts to strengthen its presence in international forums related to child protection and to exchange expertise and experiences with countries and international organizations, in a way that contributes to supporting the development of policies and practices related to children’s safety in the digital environment.

At the international level, the Kingdom highlighted its key initiatives, foremost among them the Child Protection in Cyberspace Initiative, launched under the leadership of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. The initiative aims to raise global awareness, strengthen international cooperation, and advance digital safety skills. It has also delivered measurable impact, including reaching more than 150 million children worldwide, equipping over 16 million beneficiaries with digital safety skills, and supporting the implementation of regulatory frameworks in more than 50 countries. 

At the national level, the Kingdom has affirmed its efforts to strengthen the child protection system by launching the National Framework for Child Protection in the Digital Space through the Family Affairs Council, alongside supporting national legislation, including the Child Protection Law and awareness programs. These efforts contribute to empowering children and their families to use digital technologies safely. 

This participation builds on the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to supporting international efforts and enhancing coordination among relevant stakeholders, contributing to the creation of a safer digital environment for children
