Saudi Arabia chaired the 39th session of the Arab Women Committee, held on February 9-10, 2020, in Riyadh, in partnership with the League of Arab States under the theme “Empowering Women: Development for Society.” The session was attended by ministers, heads of delegations from Arab countries, national entities concerned with women’s affairs, and representatives from regional and international organizations. During the session, Riyadh was declared the Arab Women’s Capital for 2020.
Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, stated on this occasion that Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 39th session of the Arab Women’s Committee, under the umbrella of the League of Arab States and the theme “Empowering Women: Development for Society,” reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Arab causes, promoting developmental progress across Arab communities, and advancing the status of women. She emphasized Saudi Arabia’s dedication to upholding women’s rights through economic and social empowerment, reaffirming their pivotal and influential role across all vital sectors.
