“Family Affairs Council discusses women’s issues in a specialized workshop

Tuesday, 23 Rabi’I 1439 The Family Affairs Council held yesterday (Monday), at its headquarters in Riyadh, a workshop on themes related to women’s issues, in the presence of a number of specialists and those interested in women’s issues and affairs. The workshop seeks to identify priority topics for women from all aspects, with the aim of coming up with recommendations that serve women’s issues and enhance their status in society, as well as identifying the priorities and general framework for the work of the Council’s Women’s Committee. In her speech during the opening of the meeting, the Executive Assistant of the Family Affairs Council, Hila Al-Mukayrash, explained that the Council’s secretariat, represented by Secretary General Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri, is keen to hold such forums in an effort to achieve the Council’s goals in line with the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030, and to unify all efforts and social and developmental initiatives of various community institutions. The Council for Family Affairs has four committees: (Childhood, Women, Elderly and Family Protection), and its organization is characterized by independence and comprehensiveness, as it is an independent entity headed by the Minister of Labor and Social Development.

For her part, Dr. Lana Bin Saeed, head of the Women’s Committee at the Family Affairs Council, explained that the Women’s Committee aims to develop the work of women, empower them and enhance their status in society, as well as raise women’s awareness of their legal, religious and human rights, enhance their role and enable them to meet their needs and the needs of their families. Dr. Lana Bin Saeed added that the workshop aims to define the general framework for the work of the Council’s Women’s Committee, review the most important themes and topics related to women’s issues and affairs in various fields of life, and come up with proposals and recommendations that serve women’s issues. The workshop witnessed a number of sessions in which the attendees discussed several themes related to women’s issues and concerns in the social, family, personal, health and educational fields, and what concerns women in the business and trade sector, as well as labor laws and regulations related to women, as the workshop came up with a number of proposals and recommendations on these themes.
