Conducting a Study to Asess the Economic Impact of Violence Against Women in Collaboration with the UN Representative (ESCWA)

Discussion of the Regional Project: “Estimating the Economic Cost of Violence Against Women in the Arab Region” and providing perspectives. Significance: This project seeks to establish an operational framework that introduces methodologies for estimating the economic cost of violence against women for the first time in Saudi Arabia. The framework considers both direct and indirect financial impacts of violence, including the overall living expenses of families and the costs associated with providing services at the community level. Progress achieved: The project included hosting a representative from ESCWA and conducting several interviews with stakeholders from relevant entities concerned with family protection. These discussions aimed at ensuring the availability of the required data and information to finalize the study on the economic cost of violence against women. The activities took place from December 4 to 7, 2017.
