In recognition of its achievements in empowering women and promoting their rights, the Kingdom will chair the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2025

Emphasizing its interest in cooperation within the international community and its efforts to promote women’s rights and empowerment, and as an extension of the Kingdom’s qualitative achievements in this field, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) unanimously decided to select Saudi Arabia to chair the 69th session next year.

On this occasion, Her Excellency the Secretary of the Family Affairs Council, Dr. Dr. Maimuna bint Khalil Al Khalil said that this selection confirms the prestigious position of Saudi women, which reflects the interest and care of the wise leadership – may God support them – in empowering women and supporting them to become an active partner in upgrading the country and sustaining its development. She added that Saudi women have achieved remarkable achievements in various fields and all sectors, and stressed that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 has priorities and targets focused on women’s full participation and empowerment at all levels, investing in their tremendous energies and capabilities, and cherishing their competence and high qualifications that lead them to continue recording successes and distinguished figures.

The UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is a technical committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) that meets annually to assess progress in the advancement of women, and is responsible for setting standards and formulating policies to support the advancement of women around the world.
