The Kingdom will participate tomorrow in the Gulf Arab States Dialogue on Child Welfare Policies, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from September 6 to 7, with a delegation headed by the Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council, Dr. Maimouna bint Khalil Al Khalil.
The dialogue aims to create an opportunity to interact and share best practices, lessons learned, and experiences to strengthen child protection systems in the Gulf countries, especially government entities and civil society organizations, and to implement basic procedures on child protection systems with a special focus on strengthening social work manpower from all stakeholders, especially government actors to achieve stronger coordination mechanisms for child protection.
On this occasion, the Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council, Dr. Maimuna bint Khalil Al Khalil, said that this dialogue comes in light of the acceleration and major events that the world is witnessing that require all of us to make efforts to protect the rights of the child.
She emphasized that the Kingdom has made great efforts to protect children’s rights by enacting the necessary laws and legislations to protect children from various forms of abuse, discrimination and exploitation that violate their rights, and providing all the necessary capabilities to enable their right to a safe and positive environment that preserves their psychological and physical safety, in order to prepare a good citizen who is proud of his homeland.
Al Khalil explained that the Gulf Arab Dialogue on Child Welfare Policies came to create opportunities for interaction and exchange of best practices and lessons learned through a community of integrated efforts to share Gulf experiences on child policies and rights, mobilize commitment and action on basic procedures on child protection systems, in addition to creating a framework and a network of global expertise to support Gulf countries.
Al Khalil noted that this occasion is an ideal opportunity to raise awareness in the Gulf countries regarding the protection of children and the promotion of their rights in line with international standards.
The delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, Public Health Authority, Authority for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, National Cybersecurity Authority, Family Safety Program, Child Welfare Association, and Mawada Family Development Association.
