The Family Affairs Council and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development hosted a blood donation campaign, in cooperation with the Society for Supporting Children with Cancer “Sanad” and the blood bank at King Faisal Specialist Hospital, where the campaign is one of the projects launched by the Society entitled “A drop of your blood makes the difference”, implemented over two consecutive days at the headquarters of the Family Affairs Council and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development to encourage their employees to donate blood. The campaign aims to support this category of children, raise awareness of the importance of blood donation, and mobilize the necessary support for children with cancer in the Kingdom to contribute to the success of the treatment programs they receive in hospitals, and harness all the potential that would make this campaign successful and achieve its noble and lofty goals.
The blood donation campaign witnessed a wide turnout by the employees of the two entities and donated their blood for the campaign, reflecting everyone’s understanding of its objectives aimed at providing all means to save the lives of children with cancer and alleviate their suffering, as the association had allocated for this purpose a fully equipped mobile blood donation center that receives donors for two days. It is noteworthy that Sanad plays a distinguished role in supporting pediatric cancer centers in the Kingdom with the financial or in-kind resources they need, and seeks to prepare programs to educate patients and their families about pediatric cancer and how to deal with it.
This initiative comes from the Family Affairs Council to emphasize its role in serving children’s issues and sensing its social responsibilities in supporting this campaign and contributing to the success of all efforts of governmental, private and third sectors directed at family members, and extending a helping hand and support to children of cancer patients in order to spread hope in them to enable them to face their challenges.
