With the participation of 16 representatives of governmental and private entities

On Monday, the Family Affairs Council organized a remote awareness program on the occasion of the World Awareness Day on not abusing the elderly, in the presence of 16 members of governmental, private and third sector representatives and a number of those interested in social and family affairs.

The program reviewed the efforts made by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, represented by the Family Affairs Council, to serve the elderly and pay attention to their issues and rights, as well as the efforts made by all other sectors to educate all segments of society about the importance of optimal human interaction with the elderly and adherence to the religious and social values urged by our Islamic religion.

The program touched on many psychological, social, health and human rights aspects and protection programs from abuse. The program also discussed the recommendations adopted by the Family Affairs Council emanating from the panel discussion that the Council implemented in the past days remotely on the topic of “reducing negative practices towards the elderly”, which were monitored and worked on applying them according to mechanisms and possibilities that contribute to improving the services provided to the elderly in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

On this occasion, the Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council, Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri, stated that this program comes in the context of the efforts undertaken by the Council, represented by the Committee on Older Persons, to raise awareness of the rights and issues of this important category of society, and to invest in the international days and events related to older persons to spread community awareness and highlight the best practices and services provided to them from all sectors in order to enhance the quality of life and enable them to live in peace and security through an integrated system of services that meet their needs and provide them with the care and protection that ensures a decent life, offering her thanks to representatives of all parties participating in the program.
