Family Affairs Committee in Jazan visits the home for the elderly

The Family Affairs Committee in Jazan region, which includes a number of general managers of government agencies, visited the home for the elderly in the region on Monday, coinciding with the International Day of the Elderly. Members of the committee appreciated the services provided by the state – may God help them – to this precious group who gave a lot of their time and health to serve the country and its children, in implementation of the teachings of our true religion to revere and respect the elderly and treat them with the treatment they deserve.

The members also emphasized that all governmental and private sectors in the region are ready to provide all aspects of support to inmates and provide services in various educational, health, social and other fields to provide them with a suitable residence and healthy life and give them a sense of their importance in society and everyone’s appreciation for them. The visit included the sections of the home where they were briefed on the services provided to inmates and the efforts of the home’s employees, and they also exchanged talks with the inmates of the home in various fields and the most prominent services that may contribute to providing the appropriate environment for them, providing flowers and gifts to inmates and praising the great human role played by the workers in the home.

The International Day of Older Persons is celebrated on October 1 of each year to raise awareness of the issues facing the elderly. The objectives of adopting the International Day of Older Persons are to draw attention to this age group that has contributed to the development of societies and its ability to continue to contribute, to raise awareness of the importance of preventive and curative care for the elderly, to promote health services and disease prevention, and to urge the private sector and families to support the elderly to follow a good health lifestyle.

It is worth mentioning that the Family Affairs Committee in Jazan is headed by Dr. Talal Bakri, a former Shura Council member, and its members include the Director General of Health Affairs in Jazan, the Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Director General of Education, and the Director General of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, and is concerned with caring for the family and enhancing its role in society, spreading awareness of the rights of individuals in society, and explaining the duties and rights of individuals in society.
