Organized by the Family Affairs Council and the National Center for Vegetation Development
The Family Affairs Council, in cooperation with the National Center for Vegetation Development and Desertification Control, held a workshop entitled “The Role of the Family in Vegetation Development” on Wednesday morning, Muharram 17, in the capital, Riyadh, with the aim of building awareness programs directed at all family members.
The workshop reviewed the action plan, which contains three main tracks, including training environmental workers, community education, and partnerships with relevant authorities to build awareness and education programs targeting all family members, which will be implemented over a period of 30 months.
The first topic of the workshop was entitled “Introducing the family to vegetation cover” and the importance of its role in the environment from environmental balance and pollution reduction, in addition to the positive factors that are reflected on humans and society. The attendees then learned about the components of the operational plan of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification for training and education, which is based on the Vision 2030 plan and the Green Saudi initiative.
In the third theme, the attendees discussed the educational program for the family in the development of vegetation cover and the national efforts to preserve it established by the state and the accompanying legislation, as well as a comparison between the period before and after the announcement of the 2030 Vision Plan and the recorded achievements.
The workshop concluded with the fourth paper, which reviewed the duties of the individual and society towards the environment and plants, with reference to the role of families in educating their children and contributing to the delivery of awareness messages.
In turn, the Executive Assistant of the Family Affairs Council, Haleh Al-Mukairish, stressed that this workshop comes in line with the Council’s work tracks related to raising awareness and empowering the Saudi family, stressing the interest and care that the wise leadership – may God protect it – pays to the family and providing all possibilities to support the work of the Council in coordination with the concerned sectors to contribute to achieving the targets of the Kingdom’s future vision plan 2030 related to enhancing the status of the family and empowering its members at all levels, expressing her happiness with this interaction that witnessed the workshop, which helps achieve the outputs targeted by the program’s plan.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Nassar – Advisor to the Training Center at the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification – said that this workshop is held with the Family Affairs Council as one of the main partners of the Center in implementing a program dedicated to the Saudi family towards vegetation cover and the importance of preserving it and enhancing awareness among community members.
