“Unity of purpose and integration of roles”
On August 1, the Family Affairs Council, in cooperation with Majmaah University, will organize the Family Affairs Council and Universities Forum, under the slogan “Unity of Purpose and Integration of Roles”, to present the strategic orientations of the Council to universities to discuss them and discuss the complementary roles between them, touch the requirements of the family and support them in achieving developmental goals, and adopt plans that contribute to achieving the highest levels of efficiency.
The forum aims to inform universities about the strategic directions of the Council, discuss joint tasks with universities, discuss the roles required from both sides to implement those tasks, and build a plan to integrate roles between universities and the Council in order to achieve the common goal by supporting activities and programs that achieve the goals, considering that family is an area of common interest.
Dr. Hala bint Mazeed Al-Tuwaijri, Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council, explained that the forum comes within the framework of the Council’s keenness to enhance cooperation with all institutions in various sectors in order to achieve the Council’s goals of preserving family cohesion and caring for its members.
She noted that partnership and cooperation with universities is one of the main axes in this framework, given the important role played by universities in terms of studies, research, educational programs and student activities, which contribute to shaping the social awareness of youth, as well as graduating cadres that contribute to supporting the work of the Council and engaging in its various programs and initiatives.
The forum’s sessions will discuss 3 main themes and a number of topics, the first of which is “Integration of Roles and Responsibilities”, which includes a presentation of the objectives and competencies of the Family Affairs Council, reviewing the roles of universities with a focus on the community role, presenting models of role integration between universities and community development institutions, and discussing a proposed plan for role integration between universities and the Council.
The second theme, “Empowerment and Partnership Activation,” addresses the strategic directions of the family, reviews the most important challenges it faces, discusses the tasks of family affairs committees and empowerment mechanisms, as well as ways to align activity plans in universities with the developmental goals of the Family Affairs Council.
The third theme of the forum, “Academic Orientation of Universities,” will review the most important targets of the Council’s plan in the academic aspect, and the role of universities in bridging the gap in the academic needs of the Council, as well as developing programs and specializations consistent with the developmental needs of the community.
On this occasion, the UQU Vice President and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, Prof. Musallam bin Muhammad Al-Dosari, stated that this forum comes within the framework of the directives of the UQU President, Dr. Khalid bin Saad Al-Muqrin, to open up to the community with all its components and work with developmental institutions in the dear country through the strategy of integrating roles between these institutions, in order to contribute to raising the efficiency, value and quality of services provided to the citizen, in fulfillment of the requirements of the ambitious development plan represented in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The Vice President added that this forum seeks to achieve a number of objectives, namely: Informing universities about the strategy of the Family Affairs Council, discussing the joint tasks between universities and the Council, discussing the roles required from the Council and universities to implement the joint tasks, and building a plan to integrate roles between universities and the Council in order to achieve the common goal, by holding scientific sessions that discuss three axes and include eleven topics, in addition to the accompanying workshops.
His Excellency pointed out that the university welcomes the participation of universities and specialists working in the fields of development, researchers and experts in the scientific sessions of this forum, whether by submitting research and working papers or by attending, as well as participating in the accompanying workshops.
The forum reflects the cooperation between the Council for Family Affairs and all sectors in the field of social responsibility, noting that universities in particular spread the culture of social responsibility and show young people the paths to fulfill this important societal role in order to support family issues.
Integrative work between different development agencies is one of the main foundations for the success of development projects, and an important criterion for providing a distinguished service to the beneficiary. It has also become a global trend that various development institutions, whether from the governmental, private or non-profit sectors, seek to apply, which is also stipulated in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
