The Family Affairs Council led the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation to the Ministers’ Meeting of the Women’s Empowerment Working Group (EWWG) under the G20 framework, hosted by the Republic of South Africa.
Dr. Maimoonah Al Khalil, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council and Head of the Saudi delegation, highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in women empowerment. She emphasized that Saudi Vision 2030 positions women empowerment as a central pillar of sustainable development.
She highlighted the Kingdom’s continued efforts to empower women, which have contributed to the increase in their economic participation to over 36%, and strengthened support for women in entrepreneurship and the care economy, recognizing it as a cornerstone for inclusive growth and family stability.
Dr. Al Khalil also stated that relevant national strategies place women and families at the heart of sustainable development, reflecting the Kingdom’s belief that empowering women fosters a cohesive and prosperous society.
The Council’s active participation in these meetings reaffirms its national leadership on women’s issues and its role in international forums concerned with family affairs, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to shaping global declarations and policies that support both women and families.
