A memorandum of cooperation between the Food and Drug Authority (FDA) and the Family Affairs Council (FAC) to improve the lifestyle related to healthy nutrition The Food and Drug Authority (FDA) signed today, Tuesday, 24 Rabiul Awwal 1442 AH, corresponding to November 10, 2020, a memorandum of cooperation with the Family Affairs Council, with the aim of working to improve the lifestyle related to healthy nutrition to enhance the prevention of diseases and maintain health. SFDA was represented by His Excellency Dr. Hisham bin Saad Al-Juhaei, CEO of SFDA, while the Family Affairs Council was represented by Dr. Hala bint Mazeed Al-Tuwaijri, Secretary General of the Council.
The memorandum of cooperation aims to build a participatory relationship between the two parties through which a distinguished relationship will be achieved to exploit the joint capabilities in the field of nutrition and public health, consultation, exchange of information and scientific and practical experiences, and contribute to the transfer of technical and professional knowledge through courses, training forums and specialized workshops.
The memorandum stipulates researching family issues related to nutrition and its impact on health and cooperating in addressing them through surveys, research, studies, and the use of guidelines related to the nutrition of the elderly, children, women, and the family. It also includes technical support for research and scientific studies for household appliances that serve family members, activating the Council’s role in the Healthy Food Initiative, and exchanging data and statistics resulting from studies and surveys that serve the goals of both entities.
It is worth mentioning that the Family Affairs Council is a national institution established by the Cabinet Decision No. (443) dated 20/10/1437 H. It is the official body that represents women, families, children and the elderly in international organizations and bodies. The Council unifies all efforts of government sectors regarding family issues, proposes regulations and awareness programs, and follows up on the recommendations and conventions ratified by the Kingdom in international organizations.
The Family Affairs Council conducts studies that serve the development of the Saudi family and enhance its role, as it aims to develop and improve the level of services that contribute to the social and economic stability of the family in line with the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030, which places the human being at the center of development.
