The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to participate virtually in the 66th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66), scheduled to take place in New York from March 14 to 25, 2022. The session will have as priority theme ‘Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environment, and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes

The Saudi delegation will be led by Dr. Hala Al-Tuwajri, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, and will include: Dr. Lana bint Saeed, Chair of the Women\u2019s Committee at the Family Affairs Council, Ms. Shurooq Al-Quwaie, Director of Women and Family Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Areej bint Atiyah Al-Juhani, Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Human Resources for Business Quality and Supervisor of the \u201cAfseh\u201d Program at the Ministry of Health, Ms. Noura bint Khaled Al-Issa, Senior Analyst for International Policies at the Ministry of Energy, and Ms. Salma bint Rashid Al-Rashed, Director of Advocacy at Al-Nahda Society. On the sidelines of the session, Saudi Arabia will organize a virtual seminar titled \u201cTowards Enhancing Women\u2019s Full and Effective Participation in Achieving Environmental Sustainability\u201d on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

On this occasion, the Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council and Head of the Saudi Delegation, Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwajri, emphasized that this international forum provides an opportunity to showcase the achievements made in empowering women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These accomplishments align with the Sustainable Development Goals and Vision 2030, reflecting progress in various areas, particularly this year\u2019s theme: environmental security for a sustainable future.

She highlighted that Saudi Arabia\u2019s participation through the designated delegation will shed light on the pivotal role of women in fostering sustainability within Saudi society.
