Riyadh, May 9 2025<\/strong>
The Family Affairs Council led the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participating in the second meeting of the Empowerment of Women Working Group (EWWG) within the framework of the G20, hosted this year by the Republic of South Africa from May 8\u20139, 2025, under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability.”

The Saudi delegation presented the Kingdom\u2019s most prominent initiatives and achievements in the field of women\u2019s empowerment. The head of the delegation, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, Dr. Maimoonah Al Khalil, delivered the Kingdom\u2019s statement, that highlighted the active role of women in economic development, alongside their contribution to family well-being. She also emphasized the Kingdom\u2019s efforts to strengthen the role of the family in Saudi society through comprehensive strategies aimed at its protection\u2014combining public awareness efforts with the expansion of support services for family structures\u2014all within the framework of the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.

This year, the Group\u2019s meetings addressed the priorities set by the Presidency of the Republic of South Africa, namely: policies related to the care economy, promoting women’s financial inclusion, and addressing gender-based violence and femicide.

The Council\u2019s leadership of the Saudi delegation stems from its mandate in the field of women\u2019s file and its role as the national representative in forums related to family affairs.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Saudi delegation also attended an accompanying conference organized by the G20 Presidency titled \u201cInnovative Global Strategies and Best Practices for Advancing Women\u2019s Financial Inclusion.\u201d The delegation\u2019s participation reflects the Kingdom\u2019s ongoing commitment to exchanging expertise and exploring leading policies and initiatives in the field of women\u2019s empowerment.
It is worth noting that the Empowerment of Women Working Group (EWWG) is one of the G20 working groups, dedicated to discussing economic and social policies to empower women and to exchanging best practices among member states and international organizations, with the aim of submitting recommendations to G20 leaders at the annual summit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n
