Privacy Policy



In line with the Family Affairs Council’s commitment to safeguarding user data and information and adhering to the confidentiality and privacy of personal data in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, this privacy policy has been developed. It outlines how we collect, use, share, exchange, and store personal data, as well as the rights of data subjects.  Using the Council’s website constitutes the user’s agreement to this Privacy Policy, in compliance with the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Law and its executive regulations.

1 –About the Council

The Family Affairs Council was established by the Council of Ministers Decision No. (443) dated 20/10/1437H, corresponding to 25/07/2016, and amended by Council of Ministers Decision No. (443) dated 12/8/1443H, corresponding to 15/04/2022. As per the amendment, the Council is organizationally affiliated with the Council of Economic and Development Affairs. The Council is chaired by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and includes representatives from various government agencies and four independent experts. The Council enjoys legal personality, financial and administrative independence, and is headquartered in Riyadh. Since its establishment, the Family Affairs Council has strived to “enhance the status and role of the family in society and promote its development, while preserving a strong and cohesive family unit.”

The Council targets families and individuals within the Kingdom and, according to its mandate, has a number of responsibilities, including:

1 – Developing the family strategy in coordination with relevant entities, and periodically monitoring and evaluating its implementation.

2 – Ensure that governmental and private entities related to the family affairs fulfill their roles and achieve their objectives, and coordinating among them to form a shared vision for the family.

3 – Raising awareness about the rights and duties of family members in Islam.

4 – Identifying problems and risks facing families, and working on appropriate solutions for them.

5 – Raising society awareness about the importance of family-related issues and ways to address them.

6 – Encouraging public participation in addressing family issues and proposing solutions.

7 – Providing input to relevant authorities regarding national reports concerning family (childhood, women, and the elderly) in the Kingdom.

8 – Offering insights on reports, studies, inquiries, and recommendations issued by regional and international bodies related to family activities and programs, and proposing insights and recommendation thereon without infringing upon the jurisdictions of relevant entities.

9 – Proposing recommendations on legislation related to family affairs.

10 – Establishing a database on family affairs.

11 – Cooperating with regional and international bodies concerned with family affairs, and participating in conferences, forums and seminars addressing family issues through specialized committees, in accordance with the established procedures.

12 – Collaborating with local and global research centers to conduct research and studies related to family affairs, in accordance with established procedures.

3 – Collected Personal Data and Its Purpose

The Council collects the minimum amount of personal data necessary to follow up on any inquiries, suggestions, complaints, or to respond to surveys, registration forms, and other similar communications.

4 – Methods of Collecting Personal Data:

Personal data is collected with the consent of the data subject for the purposes of subscribing to mailing lists, registering for Council events, participating in surveys, or submitting suggestions or inquiries. The purpose of data collection is clarified in each case. Data collection methods can be divided into two categories:

Direct Collection from the Data Subject:

This involves collecting data that the data subject voluntarily provides through inquiry forms, registration forms, or surveys published on the Council’s website.


Indirect Collection from the Data Subject
:

Data is collected indirectly through information gathered when visiting the Council’s website, such as through cookies.

5 – Data Sharing and Exchange:

The Council is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal data and refraining from disclosing it. The Council adheres to the data sharing controls approved by regulatory authorities and is committed to applying data confidentiality provisions and non-disclosure in accordance with the Personal Data Protection System and its executive regulations.

6 – Personal Data Storage and Disposal:

Personal data is stored securely within the geographical boundaries of the Kingdom to ensure the preservation of the national digital sovereignty of this data. The Council follows best practices and standards to ensure the security and protection of data. The Council also follows national systems and instructions regarding the disposal of personal data and its elimination when the purpose for which it was collected ceases to exist, or it’s archiving according to its retention period in a secure manner that prevents misuse or unauthorized access.

7 – Rights of the Data Subject:

In accordance with the Personal Data Protection System, issued by Royal Decree No. (م/19) dated 02/09/1443H, corresponding to 03/04/2022 as amended by Royal Decree No. (م/148) dated 05/09/1444H corresponding to 03/12/2022, and its executive regulations, you have the following rights (which depend primarily on the purpose of collecting and processing personal data):

Right to Know :

The data subject has the right to know the methods of collecting their data, the legal basis for collecting and processing it, the purpose of collecting it, and how it is processed, stored, and disposed of, and with whom it will be shared. Right to Access Personal Data and Request a Copy:

The data subject has the right to access their personal data and request a copy of it via the email address below. It will be provided to them free of charge. The Council may restrict this right under the circumstances specified in the law and its executive regulations.
 

Right to Correct Personal Data:

The data subject has the right to request the correction of their personal data that they believe is inaccurate, incorrect, or incomplete, via the email address below. It will be reviewed and updated, and the data subject will be notified. The Council may request supporting documents and papers for the correction request whenever necessary to correct, update, or complete the personal data. These documents or papers will be destroyed after the verification process is completed.
 

Right to Erase Personal Data:

The data subject has the right to request the erasure of their personal data under certain circumstances, unless there is a statutory provision specifying a specific retention period or contractual requirements. 

Right to Withdraw Consent to the Processing of Personal Data:

The data subject may withdraw their consent to the processing of their personal data at any time, unless there are legitimate interests that require otherwise.

8 – Privacy Policy Updates:

The Council reserves the right to add or modify any of the provisions of the privacy policy whenever necessary. The Arabic language is the official language for the application of the terms and conditions, and it shall prevail in the event of any discrepancy between the Arabic and English texts.
